Firefox Browser

A couple of days ago, in an attempt to lessen my reliance on the Microsoft Browser, I downloaded the just released Firefox v1.0. So far so good. It has a learning curve like anything else that is new but so far I like it. It has tabs which are great. So far it is not susceptable to hacker attack as MSN is. I like the fact that it is very customizable with plenty of extensions and plug-ins that you can install. As it is "open source" any one with the expertise can develop and improve upon the original. It is very exciting. There are lots of chat rooms devoted to this Browser primarily in Mozilla's own network called "Chatzilla" which is part of the IRC network. There are friendly people in all the Channels only too willing to answer your questions about problelms you may have with Firefox.
So overall I would recommend downloading a copy at www.mozilla.org/firefox and having a go at it. It is the safer browsing alternative.

THE U.S. ELECTION

Whew! I am relieved that is over and didn't have the drawn out ending of the last one. I mean a year of vitriolic, mud slinging campaigning is way too much. It divided the country like nothing I had witnessed before, other than the Vietnam conflict. The Liberal Arts supporters came stridently out of the Studios, Recording Rooms, and Libraries, but to no avail. The high profile faces didn't sway Joe and Jane Everyman. They saw through the lies, accusations and fear mongering and voted for strength and truth. I don't really don't get it though-why are the West Coast and N.East Coast so solidly Democrat? Maybe its the climate.
I listen to a few U.S. talk shows from LA and New York on Internet Radio and cannot believe the whining and threats of relocation by some of the people phoning in.

THE ALBERTA ELECTION

We just got over our Municipal Elections here and I am fairly happy with the results for the City of Edmonton. We turfed out the old guy who had been in for two terms. He was good but we needed new blood, and got it, by the dark horse no one thought had a chance. He's a happening guy.
Only thing is now we have to listen to the endless rhetoric from the Provincial Politiions until Nov 22. Klein will win again, one more time but with a few less seats. There is just nobody out there yet that I would trust to manage the huge amounts of oil resources pouring into the treasury. But Ralph Klein, if you're listening: loosen up the purse strings and allocate more dough for the disabled and poor. Have you looked at our roads lately? Unacceptable for a rich Province! And how about a gasoline subsidy, upgraded transit, reduced secondary education tuition? We have a long list Ralphie, the debt is paid off, time to reward the people.

So what do I think of Paul Martin so far? About as much as I thought of him before. Hard to break old habits eh Paul. Like breaking promises. The latest being Newfoundland. In his campaign he said that natural resources should totally benefit the Province that they are in. However, the offshore gas and oil under the Continental Shelf of Newfoundland are still being ripped off by the Feds. We all know that a huge pile of money is sent to the "Rock" each year as equalization payments and many other programs to shore up their economy and enable it to survive. It would seem good sense to allow them to keep their own resources to run their own business, but I guess that makes too much sense for the Liberals.
Being in control of your own resources has enabled Alberta to become debt free and send $9 Billion a year to Ottawa for distribution to the "have nots"
